Economy two-wheel transport in Singapore today seems centred around new-generation type four-stroke scooters between 100cc and 135cc. Many of these were Honda, Yamaha and Suzuki manufactured, but there are also other odd Italian-branded models like Gilera. These machines certainly seem to muster a reasonable turn of performance to keep up with general traffic speeds, even along the main highways. We paced a number a number of them maintaining 60 to 65mph. The few older bikes spotted still in service use were generally earlier Honda 'crunch' scooterettes and a Honda Chaley. Some electric bicycles were also observed around urban areas.
