Twelve riders took to the road for this run in very good weather and had very convivial lunch at the Fox and Duck in Stotfold.

A friend of mine, Nigel, expressed his wish to join the run with a choice between a 1200cc Triumph or a mountain bike.  Opting for the latter, it was a good opportunity to compare 70-year-old petrol power against 70-year-old pedal power.  Agreeing to a 90 minute start (which became 70 minutes) the test was set.

Nigel arrived back five minutes ahead.  If the the sat-nav of the powered contingent hadn’t confused the A507 with the East Coast Mainline the positions would have been reversed.  (For the record the run did include a halfway pit-stop for the powered machinery.)
